Become matched with a birth parent or receive a call for a placement.
Birth parent rights are terminated and Unexpected Blessings Adoption (UBA) is given legal custody of the child.
In turn, gives written approval for the adoptive family to maintain physical custody of the child through a Placement Agreement while the adoption is finalized.
If it is an Interstate Placement, the adoptive family CANNOT leave the State of KY until ICPC approval has been obtained.
(Can take up to 3 weeks if birth father is unknown/unnamed)
Adoption finalization takes 6-12 months to complete depending on the state in which the adoption is being finalized.
KY is a minimum of 6 months from the date of official placement.
All expenses are paid by the adoptive family, as allowed by law.
