Post Placement

Once a judge signs off on your voluntary consent to adopt and voluntary termination of rights, you no longer have any legal rights to your child. The adoptive family will have physical care and custody of your child while awaiting adoption finalization. The State of Kentucky does not have legal provisions for “open” adoption. Any requests you make to have any contact with the adoptive family and your child, i.e. sending and receiving cards/pictures, will have to be mutually agreed upon by both parties and arranged through this agency.

Counseling services are offered by a community provider at no cost to you.
